I am worried that when I deliver my first baby, I might not be able to endure the pain,
especially I had many experiences of fainting. Is there a way that I can go through nature
birth for my baby without going through the labour pain?
Epidural anesthesia is probably the best choice for you to take away the pain of labour. Please
visit our web page on epidural anesthesia for details.

I have been trying for a baby for the past 3 years. Recently, my gynae advised me to have a
laparoscopy. What is laparoscopy?
Laparocopy is a common procedure that allows the gynecologist to look directly at the
reproductive organs, including the uterus (womb), the fallopian tubes (the passage way for
the sperm to meet the egg) and the ovaries (the organs that produce the egg). The purpose
of the examination is to find out the causes of infertility, such as blocked fallopian tubes
or the presence of endometriosis (lining of the womb growing in other areas), ovarian cysts
(sacs containing fluid) or fibroids (muscle growths in the wall of the womb)
Please see page on laparoscopy for details.

What do the terms "teratozoospermia" and "oligozoospermia" mean? Also, is there any cure for
low sperm count?
To understand the terms "teratozoospermia" and "oligozoospermia" one should understand the
composition of normal sperm. According to WHO guidelines, minimum sperm values are:
| Volume: |
2 ml |
| Concentration: |
20 million/ml |
| Motility: |
50% |
| Normal morphology: |
30% |
If the concentration of the sperm is low, it is called oligozoospermia. If the
sperms are not moving actively it is called asthenozoospermia. If the sperms
are having abnormal shape and size, it is called teratozoospermia.
For further details, please read separate page
on low sperm count.

I am now in the last month of pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy. I am afraid of labour pain.
Can I find out more about the various methods of labour pain relief?
Pain is a subjective experience involving a complex interaction of physiological, psychosocial,
cultural and environmental influences. The pain feels much worse if you are tense. Continuous
support of the husband in the labour room will reduce anxiety, fear and the pain. Self-help
techniques such as relaxation and breathing may help. If you breathe steadily and evenly
during contractions and relax between them, it will reduce the pain.
